Maremma Livestock Guardian Dogs

Our maremmas are imported from Australia and are double registered with the Australian National Kennel Club, and the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America. Puppies will be registered with the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America.

All of our Maremmas are working dogs. We keep five of them with our herd of about 50 goats on our 10 acre ranch. And one lives with our pygmy goat herd at our house.

Maremmas are originally from Italy and have been bred for hundreds of years as a livestock guardian dogs. They are extremely loyal and make great guard and protection dogs for both humans and livestock. Our dogs are raised with goats and work daily going out with the herd and coming in with them at night.

These dogs are not herding dogs like border collies, but guardian dogs that protect the livestock. They are very independent and need experienced handlers. All of our dogs have wonderful temperaments and are great around children and other animals.

Pictured above is Isabella - she is a three year old female out of Kahu and Kaya. She loves her job and kidding season is her favorite time of year. She allows the babies to climb all over her and we often find her napping with the kids.

We occasionally have puppies. Call or email us for more information or to be put on a waiting list.

Our Maremma Puppies are raised in the goat pen, and exposed to livestock from a very young age.

This is Spur. Spur is out of Kaya and Kahu. He is a neutered male. He is pretty independent and does a great job guarding the herd.

Kaya is our original Maremma. She was imported from Australia and was a family pet for a while. She fit right into our farm and loves guarding the goats. She also is very friendly and a great mom.

Kahu was our first male Maremma. He has an unusually short coat for a Maremma, but it is ideal for the Hawaiian weather. He is a large, handsome dog very protective. Kahu means Guardian in Hawaiian.
